Dear Drummer, welcome to Drumtuner.it !
With your ZORZAN DRUMS snare drum, you received a Tuning Card which, via the link or QR code, brought you right here.
What could be more important for a craftsman who gives life to his own drums than being certain that their owners can always get the very best from them, in any situation?
This is how the partnership with Larsen Premoli was born. In 2022, he developed an innovative physical–mathematical equation capable of predicting the frequency relationships between drumheads, providing a reliable foundation for achieving the optimal tuning for any shell. All of this research is collected in his book LAST-TUNE.
When I built your snare drum, I personally verified the tuning pitches at which your instrument is able to express its full potential. These values have been marked on your personal Tuning Card.
Drumtuner.it provides you with a tool called Tone-Reference which allows you to set and listen to the frequency indicated on your Tuning Card and then reproduce it on your drum by tightening or loosening the tension rods as usual. The key point is that, when striking the head near each tension rod, the frequency should always be the same: this ensures that the head is evenly tensioned. To tune the resonant head, I suggest placing a drumstick or a ruler under the snare wires, resting across the edges of the hoop. This keeps the wires lifted and allows the resonant head to vibrate freely.
(If you wish, a short VIDEO TUTORIAL explaining how to use the tool effectively is available here.)
Using this method, you can experiment and discover all the tunings you prefer — and recall them at any time, even after changing drumheads — always bringing your Zorzan Drums snare back to its maximum performance.
All that’s left to do is keep your Tuning Card close at hand and access the Tone-Reference right away. If you are using a smartphone, make sure your speakers are enabled (the same setting used to activate your phone’s ringer).
Enjoy, and make great music.
